Mrs Birring warmly welcome you to Nursery.
The aim of this page is to highlight some of the fantastic learning that has been happening in Nursery, this page will be updated monthly, with photographs and information about the learning we have completed during the month.
We hope you enjoy looking through these updates and do discuss your child’s learning with them to celebrate their success. We look forward to any suggestions you may have to make your child’s learning a pleasant experience.
What we have been learning so far this year:
November 2020
This month in nursery children have been looking at different celebrations. We read ‘Kippers birthday’ and children loved talking about what they do at birthday parties. In nursery we have created a role play area where we are celebrating Kippers birthday. We enjoy making party hats and cutting a cake for kipper while singing the ‘happy birthday song’. We also enjoyed making our own playdough, we made our very own birthday cakes for Kipper, we put candles on the cake and loved counting out loud how old Kipper could be.
Children in nursery have really enjoyed talking about different festivals of light, in particular Diwali and Bandi Chorr Diwas. Children made clay divas and painted them in different colours adding textures such as glitter. Children particularly enjoyed talking about the different fireworks that they did with their families, sharing their experiences with their peers. We loved making our own fireworks with different coloured sand. We also learnt a fireworks song during our music lesson. To mark this festival of light, children decorated paper lanterns, they used mixed media to design the lanterns.
As part of our Diwali topic we made some rangoli patterns using coloured pasta. Children talked about the colours they could see and the shapes they could spot. This month we celebrated Children In Need, we enjoyed painting spots on our hats and enjoyed playing with the Pudsey bear picture we made with sand.
As part of our teaching of British values, we celebrated Remembrance day by making poppies. We observed the 2 minute silence in nursery and looked at why it is important to remember those that lost their lives during the war.
