Exploring Media and Materials
In Nursery we learnt about people who helps us in our lives. We looked at the appearance of an ambulance van, police hats, badges on their hats and fire engine. The children were able to create their own police hats by creating their own police badge to stick on their hat. They also painted an ambulance van and fire engine which they really enjoyed mixing colours and using the correct colours of each vehicle. E.g. making red paint for the fire engine. Moreover, we learnt about Bandi Chorr and what happens during this occasion. In nursery we made our very own Diva using clay, we decorated this using different colour paint.

Literacy
This month we have looked at the story ‘Monkey Puzzle’. The children have really enjoyed this story. Children were able to understand the transitioning of leaving their parents and knowing that their parents will come back and collect them. Each week we have been discussing on the carpet about the story. The children were able to tell me the different animals in the story. Every week we had different activities which linked to the story Monkey Puzzle. The children learnt about different animals that live in the jungle. The children also learnt how each animal look as we created animal masks using the correct colour paint.
Maths
The children have been learning how numbers look like and the order the numbers go. We have been learning the song ‘1,2,3,3,4,5 once I caught a fish alive’. The children really enjoyed singing and dancing to this song. The children have been tracing over numbers using a whiteboard pen to learn how to write different numbers. In nursery we have been learning about numbers during the time when we are counting the days of the week song and knowing the date each day. On the table we have different type of activities which helped the children to put objects which matched the correct number. The children are still learning their numbers.
Personal, Social, Emotional Development
The children in nursery have settled in well by making good friendship with each other. The children have been taking turns to play activities. End of the day we take turns to talk about what they have really enjoyed playing. The children in nursery have enjoyed playing with each other by building a tall tower, they were communicating with each other. The children were also able to express their own likes and dislikes and giving options during snack time and the different types of activities that are out.
Physical Development
The children love playing outside in the garden exploring and knowing the different activities that are out. The children loved playing on the climbing frame with each other as they were playing hide and seek. The children were able to climb up the climbing rocks and go under the tunnel, they really enjoy the slide. The children also enjoyed playing with the bikes pretending to park their bikes in a car park, they also were stopping and starting on their bikes as they are learning the meaning of red light and green light.
Understanding the World
This monkey we looked at Black History Month. In Black History Month we learnt about Ainsley Harriott who was a chef and a TV presenter of ‘Ready Steady Cook’. We watched some of Harriott’s TV programme and learnt different types of ingredients he was using. Also, during this month we looked at different types of patterns on materials and clothes. The patterns included different floral designs, shapes, lines etc. In Nursery we created patterns by using paint rollers and different types of paint colours that we mixed. The children were amazing artists!
