Welcome to Life at KPS for Year 2

Mrs Sandhu and Mrs Birring warmly welcome you to Year 2.

The aim of this page is to highlight some of the fantastic learning that has been happening in Year 2, this page will be updated monthly, with photographs and information about the learning we have completed during the month.

We hope you enjoy looking through these updates and do discuss your child’s learning with them to celebrate their success. We look forward to any suggestions you may have to make your child’s learning a pleasant experience.

September 2021

In Year 2 the children have had the chance to talk about how to be successful learners and how to use the 5 Khalsa values in our class behaviour charter- the STAR. This stands for the following;

S tay safe and be kind

T ry your best at everything

A lways tell the truth

R espect everyone and everything

They then had circle time to practice their speaking and listening skills with their new talk partners. The children learned how to compliment one another and ensure they all get to have a positive break time while playing together in the playground.

In Maths we have remembered how to make a 2-digit number using a ten-frame. They then went onto partition the number into tens and ones on a place-value chart which was later represented in digit and written form. In English we looked at the bird for each class. The children have understood the importance of the Sparrow and Partridge in the Gurbani as well as writing acrostic poems about them. They have also had the opportunity to observe and sketch a drawing of the bird while learning some new sketching skills such as cross – hatching.
