Welcome to Life at KPS for Year 2
Mrs Kaur and Mrs Birring warmly welcome you to Year 2.
The aim of this page is to highlight some of the fantastic learning that has been happening in Year 2, this page will be updated monthly, with photographs and information about the learning we have completed during the month.
We hope you enjoy looking through these updates and do discuss your child’s learning with them to celebrate their success. We look forward to any suggestions you may have to make your child’s learning a pleasant experience.
September 2022
In Year 2, children have quickly settled into the expectations of a new year group and children have had the opportunity to discuss how they can incorporate the 5 Khalsa values into their daily lives. Children have been following our class behaviour charter – STAR, to ensure they are successful in year two. This stands for the following;
S tay safe and be kind
T ry your best at everything
A lways tell the truth
R espect everyone and everything
Year 2 children have had the chance to experience their first trip of the year which contributes towards their final written piece, a recount. They have had a chance to discuss their hopes and fears for the year whilst also getting to know their class teachers and peers better. In maths, children have been using different methods to represent numbers such as the place value chart and the part-whole model which contributes to their fluency in adding and subtracting numbers by recognising the value of each digit. Children have been introduced to our artist of the term, Aubrey Williams, and have started to identify how his abstract art was inspired by music. We ended the month very nicely by completing the MAD experience which helped children to build team-building and reasoning skills. We are very proud of the way all children have adapted to year 2!
