Welcome to Life at KPS for Year 3
Mrs Clarke and Mrs Athwal warmly welcome you to Year 3.
The aim of this page is to highlight some of the fantastic learning that has been happening in Year 3, this page will be updated monthly, with photographs and information about the learning we have completed during the month.
We hope you enjoy looking through these updates and do discuss your child’s learning with them to celebrate their success. We look forward to any suggestions you may have to make your child’s learning a pleasant experience.
July 2022
This month, the children have been very busy participating in various gardening activities. Our sunflowers and the colourful wild flowers have started to bloom and they are looking beautiful! We are so proud of the children because they have worked hard to maintain the allotments and really look after them with love. The children enjoyed working together to care for their allotment area – watering, weeding, repotting and digging. From their experience, the children have taken their learning home as well.
The children have enjoyed taking part in practical science investigations this term. We have been learning a lot about light and shadows. We have been investigating which materials are transparent, translucent or opaque. The children have also learnt how mirrors work and what reflection is. The weather has been amazing so we have had the opportunity to go outside and look at how the sun affects the shadows of different objects and how the shadows changes throughout the day too. The trees have been so helpful in guiding us in the size of shadows!
The children have had the opportunity to meet their new teacher on Transition Day! They asked lots of questions about Year 4 and took part in “Get to know you” activities. We are looking forward to seeing how Year 3 will flourish in Year 4!
