To start the year, we have discussed our class charter and looked at our three school rules – be ready, be safe and be respectful!  As a class, we agreed on how we would follow these rules within our classroom environment and the school as a whole.  We have also discussed how it is important to welcome others into our school and value others by showing our five values at all time.  In PSHE, we have created our own puzzle pieces that show how we will be ready to learn at all times, be safe within our environment and how we will be respectful to our class properties and others around us.  We have also been going on our daily mile walks where we are practicing to be mindful of our surroundings and be aware of the natural space around us.

We have also been looking at our respective class birds, Shelduck and Heron and have researched many interesting facts and details about them.  In English, we have started to use conjunctions in our writing to extend our ideas.  We have also used descriptive language to write sentences about the physical features of our class bird.  In Art, we used sketching techniques to draw the bird and then used our shading skills to add in any details.  We learnt that we do not have to press hard with our pencil to add in details and the lighter our grip the more effective our shading will be.
