Welcome to Life at KPS for Year 5

Mrs Van Rooyen and Mrs Chahal warmly welcome you to Year 5.

The aim of this page is to highlight some of the fantastic learning that has been happening in Year 5, this page will be updated monthly, with photographs and information about the learning we have completed during the month.

We hope you enjoy looking through these updates and do discuss your child’s learning with them to celebrate their success. We look forward to any suggestions you may have to make your child’s learning a pleasant experience.

April 2021

In Year Five this month, we have been finishing our art work, which is felt painting.  After practising a range of stitches including running, backstitch and blanket stitch, we finished off our felt by embellishing it with some beads and some stitching. All their hard work will go on display around the contemplation zone. As a side activity, we also drew some wolves, which we painted.

We celebrated Vaisakhi this month with an assembly which was filmed and broadcast to parents in both English and Panjabi re-telling the story of Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s creation of the Khalsa. We also observed Year 6 taking part in the Seva of Nishan Sahib, following by the Langar.

In English, we completed our Red Riding Hood stories, written from the Wolf’s perspective. We enjoyed writing these stories as we could go wild with our imagination!

In PSHE, we have been focussing on how to be a good friend.  We had a class discussion and looked at the following statements such as asking a friend to play, sharing with friends, playing alone or with friends, etc.

We also spent time in our allotment, tiding and getting our seeds in the soil so we can admire all the growth!
