It’s been a great half term getting to know your lovely children. I feel privileged that I have a class of inquisitive, polite and hard-working children.
Our Refugee topic has been central to all the learning that has taken place. Thinking from a different point of view was essential to enable children to imagine what it was like to lose everything and start afresh, often without the support of loved ones. We tracked the journey of some refugees from their homes to places where they settled. Map work was studied which included locating major countries and cities which was followed by discussion of many emotive questions. Children were very empathetic and thoughtful with their responses, this also extended to RE where we have considered how Muslims show commitment to their faith.
Our learning about the heart and circulatory system was exciting and culminated in looking at real hears and using microscopes to examine cells. This was an amazing opportunity which was the result of a growing partnership between KPS and PSA and provided children with an invaluable experience.
