Welcome to Life at KPS for Reception

Mr Sembhi and Mrs Virdee warmly welcome you to Reception.

The aim of this page is to highlight some of the fantastic learning that has been happening in Reception, this page will be updated monthly, with photographs and information about the learning we have completed during the month.

We hope you enjoy looking through these updates and do discuss your child’s learning with them to celebrate their success. We look forward to any suggestions you may have to make your child’s learning a pleasant experience.

April 2021

This term it has been a delight to see our Reception children really engage in and enjoy taking part in lots of cooking in our Food Tech room where they have been working together in small groups to make delicious food such as Fruit Kebabs and yummy Potatoes salad. Our children have been learning how to follow instructions and how to stay safe whilst making different types of food in the Food Tech room. They have also been looking at the importance of hygiene when handling different ingredients for cooking and baking with. We have also been looking in-depth at the story of Jack and the Beanstalk where our children have been learning how to draw story maps and retell the story using actions and key phrases. They have been learning how to write a recount of the story of Jack and the Beanstalk using their story maps. Well done Reception for using al the skills needed for writing a sentence such as hold a sentence, finger spaces, phonics sounds, correct letter formation, full stops, capital letters and reading back your work.
