Welcome to Life at KPS for Reception

Mr Sembhi and Mrs Morgan warmly welcome you to Reception.

The aim of this page is to highlight some of the fantastic learning that has been happening in Reception, this page will be updated monthly, with photographs and information about the learning we have completed during the month.

We hope you enjoy looking through these updates and do discuss your child’s learning with them to celebrate their success. We look forward to any suggestions you may have to make your child’s learning a pleasant experience.

December 2021

It’s December! We have settled in well and now enjoy our learning environment. We have made friends too. We continue to learn to take turns and share resources with other children. The topic on Celebrations helped us to learn how different people celebrate their birthdays, weddings and some religious celebrations like Diwali, Bhandir Chorr Divas and Christmas. Through this topic, we used our Phonics knowledge to write shopping lists, captions and even a letter to Santa Claus! We finished this term by learning about different measures which include sizes, lengths, weights, capacity and volume. We are beginning to compare measures and also using the correct vocabulary. Outdoor learning has been so much fun! It was exciting when some children discovered ice in the garden which was used in our mud kitchen to make mud ice chocolate and ice soup. Our outdoor learning space has offered us to run around, ride bikes and enjoy fresh air as we learn. We have begun to apply our Phonics sounds in our reading. We love reading to our teachers at school and our families when get home.
