Welcome to Life at KPS for Reception

Mr Ahluwalia and Mrs Morgan warmly welcome you to Reception.

The aim of this page is to highlight some of the fantastic learning that has been happening in Reception, this page will be updated monthly, with photographs and information about the learning we have completed during the month.

We hope you enjoy looking through these updates and do discuss your child’s learning with them to celebrate their success. We look forward to any suggestions you may have to make your child’s learning a pleasant experience.

September 2022

We are excited to be in our new Reception classes where we are settling in well. We have been learning to follow school routines and experiencing new ways of doing things. Our class teachers and teaching assistants have been helping us to get used to our new learning environment by showing us where all the resources are kept and how to tidy up.

We are having a great time exploring new resources from our learning areas. There is so much to do and so many children to play and make friends with.

Our first topic is ‘All about me’ We discussed about ourselves and our family members. We started off writing pre-writing activities which are continuous patterns. Our teachers said these are great to support our handling and controlling mark making tools.

Exploring paint and discovering new colours was fascinating during painting Kandisky‘s circles. We all produced our own circles. It was hard at first, but we kept improving and got better each time we painted another circle.

Singing is at the core of everything. We sing Nursery rhymes, days of the week songs and many other others. We even have a tidy up song!
