What is the Sports Premium?

As part of the Olympic Legacy, the Government is providing £150m of funding for academic years 2013/14 and 2014/15 to provide new, substantial primary school sports funding.

Jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture and Media and Sport, the money is allocated directly to primary school head teachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children. The funding is ring-fenced for sport and PE provision but schools will have the freedom to choose how it is spent.
